his is a proposal for the renovation of the former department store in the central urban area of Ube City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, into a public facility and a hub for generating vitality.
The plan doesn’t just focus on the target facility but also aims to extend the vibrancy to the neighboring park and streets. Instead of creating a variety of spaces, the proposal suggests establishing a “downtown complex” as a “place where it’s okay to be” and “a place you want to be,” attracting both people with specific purposes and those who spontaneously visit.
