It is a licensed nursery school located under the elevated tracks of the Tokyo Metro Tozai Line in Ichikawa, Chiba Prefecture. The project aimed to design an optimal space for children to spend their time. It was carefully ensured that the influence of the elevated railway tracks didn’t affect the building’s ceiling. For the nursery environment, it’s desirable to use the ceiling as sound-absorbing material, but common sound-absorbing materials lack aesthetic appeal. Wooden sound-absorbing panels were adopted, and the walls and floors were finished with natural wood to create a space that meets all necessary performance requirements while gently embracing the children.
